Can younger siblings come along?

Yes, siblings under 24 months are welcome to attend free of charge. Baby carriers, backpacks and pushchairs are all common sights at Mud Pies.

What should we wear?

Please come dressed for the outdoors — waterproofs and wellies are ideal. Waterproof trousers are great for keeping adults warm too, especially as we move at child pace. Don't forget hats and sunscreen when needed.

What happens if it rains?

We go anyway! Young children are generally more than happy to stay out in the wet and cold if they're enjoying themselves. We only cancel in very high winds or if the woods are considered unsafe. If you don't hear from us, the class is on.

Do adults stay for the session?

Yes, parents and carers stay and play an active role throughout. Mud Pies is not a drop-off service — this is quality time together. Parents are responsible for their child's behaviour and safety at all times.

Can I take photos during the session?

Yes, you are welcome to take photos of your own child during the session.

What about toilets?

A portable potty is available for use. Though the most environmentally friendly option is to take advantage of the woods — walk seven trees and you're all set!

Who is Mud Pies for?

Weekly classes are for children aged 24 months to 5 years (not yet in Primary 1), alongside their parent or carer. Holiday sessions welcome children up to 8 years old.

Where and when do you meet?

Weekly classes run on Monday mornings (10am–11.30am) and afternoons (1pm–2.30pm) in Hazlehead Park, Aberdeen. We meet at the small play park on Groats Road, between Hazlehead Academy and the rugby pitch — postcode AB15 8BE. The exact meeting point is confirmed when you book.

How long are sessions?

Standard weekly sessions run for 90 minutes. Holiday sessions are also 90 minutes.

How much does it cost?

Weekly classes are paid in blocks: £80 for an 8-week term (works out at £10 per class). Taster sessions are £10. Holiday adventures are £10 per child. Adults go free. Sibling (10%) and twin (15%) discounts are available — enter the code at checkout.

How do I pay for classes?

Your place is confirmed once payment is received. You can pay online at booking or by BACS transfer.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Accepted Answer

You have the right to cancel your booking within fourteen working days of placing your payment for a full refund. Cancellations outside this period are at our discretion. Mud Pies does not offer refunds on classes cancelled due to bad weather.

Yes, Mud Pies offers one-off visits for schools, nurseries and playgroups. Please get in touch to find out more.

Are the activities safe?

Accepted Answer

Every reasonable care is taken to ensure the woodland venue and activities are safe. However, Mud Pies encourages children to clamber over logs, climb small boulders and run down gentle slopes — so minor bumps and scrapes may occur. Parents and carers are responsible for their child's safety at all times.

Weekly classes are designed for children aged 2–5 years. Holiday adventures welcome children up to 8 years. For nurseries, schools and playgroups, we offer separate one-off sessions — please get in touch.
