Helping children fall in love with nature since 2009.

Meet Mandy

Mud Pies was created by Mandy Tulloch — a Zoology graduate and qualified primary teacher who welcomed two little wonders of nature into the world and realised there was nothing out there for them.

After speaking to lots of parents, I realised there were no activities out there for younger children that encouraged them to get outdoors, get active and explore nature — so I decided to strike out on my own and create Mud Pies.

Since then, Mandy has worked with thousands of families, many schools and several partner organisations. She is also a trainer for the educational charity Learning Through Landscapes.

At an education conference the guest speaker asked what we remembered most about playing outdoors — and the whole room shouted back “making mud pies!” Research is now finding that time in green spaces is really good for children. If we want future generations to look after our planet, they have to have a positive attitude towards it — and that starts with having fun in it. Maybe making mud pies is more than just child’s play.
