Adventure begins in the woods.
Weekly outdoor nature classes for children aged 2–5 where curiosity, confidence and imagination grow naturally.
Do you remember blowing dandelion clocks and kicking up Autumn leaves? Throwing sycamore helicopters or playing conkers? Making daisy chains and mud pies?
Mud Pies runs preschool nature classes in Aberdeen to capture the magic of the outdoors and get switched on to the wonders of nature. We blend play, education, and environmental awareness to help young children build confidence, resilience and hopefully the start of a lifelong connection with the natural world.
Why Parents Love Mud Pies
Not just another class. A place where childhood and nature come together.
Outdoor Learning
Fresh air, exploration and confidence building. Every session is an opportunity for your child to discover the natural world around them.
Nature Discovery
Wildlife, bugs, plants and seasonal adventures. Each week brings something new — from spotting birds to identifying wildflowers.
Real Childhood Memories
Campfires, muddy puddles, climbing, den building and making mud pies. The kind of childhood every parent wants for their child.
How Classes Work
Simple, predictable, and full of wonder.
Arrive & Meet
We meet at the small play park on Groats Road, beside Hazlehead Academy. After a warm welcome, we introduce the day's theme and head into the woods.
Woodland Walk
We explore the woods together, collecting treasures in little buckets along the way. Every walk is different — colours, numbers, wildlife, or just whatever catches our eye.
Camp & Create
About 40 minutes in we reach our camp area, with a tarpaulin shelter if the weather needs it. We have snack and use our collected treasures to make something to take home.
Free Play & Goodbye
The last 20 minutes are free play — digging with spoons, creating mud pies, drawing with chalk, or playing with toy diggers. We usually finish with hide and seek on the way back.
Meet Mandy
Mud Pies was founded by Mandy, a qualified outdoor practitioner with a deep belief in the power of nature to shape confident, curious children.
With years of experience in early years education and a Forest School qualification, Mandy created Mud Pies to give children the childhood she believes every child deserves — muddy, adventurous and full of discovery.

What Parents Say
Real words from real families.
“I started Mud Pies recently with my 2 year old son and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Mandy is the most wonderful teacher who captivates the children with fun and interesting activities whilst they explore the forest. She is superb with the children and both my son and I really look forward to the classes.”
“This is the 3rd Mud Pies event I have taken my daughter to and they are so enjoyable. Mandy does an excellent job running the class, keeps it interesting and manages to keep the little ones engaged. Highly recommend these events.”
“Absolute fantastic party, cannot recommend Mandy and Mud Pies enough — friendly, organised and so helpful. We will see you again.”
“Love it, not only because my 4 year old does! It's a wonderful outdoors class with campfires, den-building, exploring and letting kids run free — no matter the weather!”
